How To Make Chicken Bonda

Chicken Bonda

 Chicken bonda is perfect non-vegetarian snack to enjoy with a cup of hot tea or coffee. It is a non-version of aloo bonda. When you have leftover chicken masala, you can prepare this tasty and spicy chicken bonda very easily. Bonda is a popular south Indian snack and street food. Chicken bonda can be served with coriander chutney
or even with coconut chutney. I generally like to serve it as a tea time snack dish for my family, You can also make a no onion no ginger version, just skip the onion and ginger from this recipe.

What are the ingredients for chicken bonda?


Ingredients 

For Masala

Oil- 1 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp 
curry leaves
Ginger chopped- 1 tsp
Green chilly-3 (chopped)
Onion-1 (chopped)
salt
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Garam masala-1/4 tsp
chicken-1/2 cup ( cooked or shredded)
Potato-2(mashed)

For Batter

Besan flour-1/2 cup 
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
chilly powder-1/2 tsp 
pepper powder- 1/4 tsp 
Asafoetida- 2 pinch
Water-1/2 cup
Baking soda-2 pinch
oil for frying
Preparation
  • Heat a pan with oil.
  • Add mustard seeds.
  • Then add ginger, green chilly and curry leaves saute for 30 seconds.
  • Next, add onion and salt mix well and saute them.
  • When the onion turns light golden color add turmeric and garam masala and mix well until raw aroma goes it. Add, chicken and mashed potatoes mix well and switch off the flame.
  • Keep it aside.
  • cool then combine well using with your hands.
  • In a bowl, mix together, Besan flour, turmeric, chilly, pepper, salt, asafoetida, water, and baking soda, so that the batter is neither thinner too thick.
  • It should be coating consistency. This is the bonda batter.
  • Divide the chicken potato mixture equally and make balls out of it. 
  • Now dip 3-4 potato balls in the prepared batter in such a way .it is well coated on all the sides.
  • Heat oil in a Kadai drops a small drop of batter into the oil if it raises to the surface immediately, the oil is ready for frying.
  • Do not disturb for the first few seconds, then stir it to flip it over and fry until it turns golden brown.
  • Remove from heat and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil. 
  • Repeat the same process for the rest of the bonda.
Method
